The AJ200D is a sophisticated 3.0-litre inline-six with an integrated starter-generator and electric auxiliary compressor — a more modern and efficient design than the older AJ200D V6. We replace timing chains, bearings, water pump and gaskets as standard on every AJ200D rebuild.
Because the Defender D240 uses a completely different engine family from the V8 M178 fitted to the Defender 63 and GT 63 S, parts and rebuild specifications don't cross over between them.

ABOUT THE Land Rover Defender D240 ENGINE
The Defender D240 was a short-lived variant produced only during 2019–2020, sitting alongside the D200 as one of the early L663-generation diesel options. It uses the Ingenium AJ200D — a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel that was essentially a higher-output version of the D200's engine. The D240 was discontinued after 2020 and replaced in the range by the D250, which uses the larger 3.0-litre six-cylinder AJ300D. The D240 is no longer in production, but we continue to rebuild and replace engines for every one still on the road.
